P.E. or STRUNG GINNY DOLL ~ RARE 1949 RED LAURY OUTFIT ~ COMPLETE & VGC ~ VOGUE

Description

Up for your consideration is one of Ginny's rare and hard-to-find early outfits. It is her #8-16C Laury Outfit. The outfit is shown on page 11 in the book "The Colorful World of Ginny" by Barbara Clark. This outfit came in many colors and this auction is for the most desirable one, the red one. You will receive the dress, bloomers, socks, shoes and bonnet. The complete outfit. Please look at all my photos and use the enlarger as the photos are the main part of my description. If you have any questions, please ask them before you bid.
The red taffeta dress has delicate white lace around the lower skirt and around the butterfly sleeves. It closes in the back with a hook and eye and has the blue ink spot folded tag sewn into the waistline on the left side. This dress is in impeccable condition for it's age except for one thing. The tag is faded on the outside part. That's it, no holes, no tears, no stains. It is in beautiful condition!!
The correct, original and matching bloomers also have the same delicate white lace trim. They, too, are in very good condition. I did have all the elastics replaced because they were completely stretched out but, it was done by a professional seamstress. No holes, tears or stains.
The vintage white rayon socks are my very last pair of new "old store stock". I had four pair and saved them for my very best outfits. This outfit is the best of the best so, it gets the best socks I have.
The red center-snap oil cloth shoes are the correct shoes that go with this outfit. I must say, they have seen better days but, are still hanging on. The right shoe, which is on the left side of the photos, is barely hanging on to it's strap by just a few threads. I used a red marker to color the strings so you could see them against the white tissue paper the shoe is stuffed with. Please enlarge the 10th photo so you can see this. However, the rest of the shoe is perfect. The left shoe, which is the one on the right side of the photos, also has one side of the strap that is coming off but, it is not as bad as the other shoe. Other than one side of one strap on each shoe, these shoes are in great shape. Nice tight back seam and fuzzy soles. These shoes are not just a pair of shoes, they are a matched pair of shoes. They have been on a Ginny for a long time as they are shaped to her feet so you can distinguish the left shoe from the right. They have the greek key designed snaps.
The correct, original and matching bonnet to this outfit is the final piece. It has the same delicate white lace trim as the dress and bloomers and goes around the brim in two rows. It also goes around the back hole of the bonnet. A red satin ribbon connects both sides of the bonnet and ties under Ginny's chin. This ribbon may be slightly faded but, is otherwise still quite nice. I can't really tell for sure. I do not think any thing else is faded so, maybe Vogue used a softer red ribbon so as not to distract from the rest of the outfit. This bonnet is in very nice condition with no holes, tears or stains.
You are going to absolutely love this entire outfit!! It doesn't get much better than this except for maybe the shoes. If you are looking to add something special to your Ginny Collection, then this auction is for you. You never know when or if another one will come along in this condition.
