In this auction we are offering one of the prettiest roller skaters we have enjoyed in our collection and not often seen offered.  She is from the 1951 Sport Series of dolls Vogue offered during that year named "Roller Skater" and one of the variations that Vogue produced during that time in the corduroy red/white/blue window pane design.  She is one you don't often see, especially with the red bias trim;  usually if found, would be with the cobalt blue trim,  although both are not commonly seen offered.  Ginny roller skater  has those desirable brown eyes often sought after by collectors and beautiful full blonde factory wig.
She has  that early 1951 desirable look that many love.  You can see reference to this doll in the Barbara Clark newest reference book on Ginny entitled "The Colorful World of Ginny" available on Ebay.  A great reference for collectors as well as those who may enjoy bringing back memories of dolls once had or desired years ago.  We are offering this darling roller skater in this auction as pictured and we hope she finds a new home where she can continue to be enjoyed.  Please check for any add'l notations that may be under some of the photos too.
DETAILS
Ginny is an 8" hard plastic strung doll from 1951.  She is marked on her back Vogue Doll; has no cracks, chips or repairs other than being restrung by previous owner.   Ginny has the desirable brown eyes that do need assistance to open and close; very common for these early dolls and acceptable by the majority of collectors.  She is a true blonde retaining her factory applied original wig that has not been restyled.  It still retains most of the original set.  Wig is clean and a nice shade of blonde.  Ginny may have a few stray hairs which is common even for the most mint in box vintage doll (any lines on her face are stay hairs, not cracks).    She has nice visible brows  and lashes with no redo's; typical of the coloring of some of the 1951-52 dolls.  Wonderful nice factory blushed cheeks with no scrapes.
Ginny comes to you wearing her beautiful red/white/blue corduroy swing style skating dress, matching panties and bonnet.  Outfit is untagged but guaranteed vintage vogue.  No tears, no stains, never laundered.  Colors are still nice and bright with no fading (some photos may show the red a brighter red  due to the lighting and camera flash (see all photos); colors are a slightly deeper red and a nice white but not glaring.  Bonnet retains its original ribbon tie. Skating dress is trimmed in red bias cotton tape around hem and bonnet with mock straps on bodice.  When you do see this corduroy set, you see the blue bias trimmed version, rarely the red.  Hook/eye back closure with no stains.  Matching panties with elastic waist and trim at legs.  The 1951 roller skater outfit came in a few different fabrics and plaids, but a limited number apparently were made in corduroy going by what some long time collectors have come across.   Ginny would not be complete if she didn't have her nice center snap roller skates (Vogue used white, red or blue) and original white rayon socks.  Skates  have shown the test of time too and are in excellent plus, no repairs.
Vogue seemed to showcase/offer some of the prettiest sport series dolls that had wonderful more unique outfits in various fabrics including cotton plaids, the unique corduroys and the quilted skater in 1953.  This sweet dressed doll is rarely seen comparing to others.
Wonderful early Ginny skater  doll for someone who loves her overall look.   She was issued as a roller skater so she wants to continue with the sport and comes to you as you see her, but a change of look from skater to every day going to a special event in her outfit is always an option too,  just by changing out her footwear.
A very sweet quality all factory Vogue (other than restringing) doll ready to find a new home where she can be enjoyed and shared with family and friends.  Would make a great gift for that special someone in your life too.  Since she doesn't have her original box, which most are long gone as boxes weren't that important years ago, she will come to you in a nice silver gift box.  Ginny will be well protected for her journey, packaged within a shipping box to help insure her safe arrival.  Sorry, stand is not included as we have run out at this time.
