Vintage Vogue PE Pre Ginny JOYCE 1949

This is another of the Painted Eye preGinny dolls that I’ve had for a while. What I love about these is that, because they were hand painted in the early days, every one is slightly different, until stencils were used in the early 50’s for facial features. This is Joyce, another girl from the Toddler Party Dress Series of 1949 is adorable. First this little pre-Ginny is a beautiful example of the first hard plastic painted eye dolls that eventually gave way to the sleep eyed version that became known as GINNY. She has a wonderful hard plastic body, untouched, and still lush, original mohair side part strawberry blonde flip wig, and sweet facial coloring. This mohair wig is amazing! Her brows and lashes are hand painted, as are her blue side-glancing eyes. She does not appear to have been played with much at all. She is damage-free and very, very clean.
Her Joyce outfit is excellent. This tiny rose print taffeta empire waist dress came in a pink and blue version. This one is pink with a white ground covered in tiny pink rosebuds. It’s crisp, unwashed, and bright. The butterfly sleeves are adorable. Dress closes in the back with a hook and eye closure. Dress is adorned at the hem with a velvet ribbon and flower spray. Under the dress are matching bloomers. External ink spot tag is sewn into the waist. On her feet are excellent black greek key center snap shoes and vintage pink socks. Snaps and straps are holding strong.
A vintage pink bow and vintage brass barrette are in her hair.
These do not come along very often. Don’t let this girl get away!
