We are offering another adoring and not often seen offered early transitional sleep eye strung Ginny strung doll from 1950/51 named "Cindy" from the R Group Series of Vogue Ginny dolls #8-1R. You can see reference to Vogue's issue Cindy in the newest reference book entitled "The Colorful World of Ginny" and the variations of hats and colors on pages 37 and 39 (Revised Ed.) by Barbara Clark available on Ebay. This is a very sweet and harder-to-find complete doll in excellent plus or better overall condition. Everyone rates a bit differently depending on one's own expectations and critique. We have examined her closely and although we don't think our photos due her justice, please take a look and see if she is one you might enjoy. We took photos in various light settings to try to capture how pretty she is in person. A sweet and less common doll ready to find a new home where she can continue to be enjoyed. She doesn't come by too often and she is complete with original factory wig, no touchups, complete original outfit; a special doll for those who enjoy the somewhat more elusive
.
Ginny is a pretty early strung hard plastic blonde haired doll with the transitional soft pale coloring and very unusual light pink kissable looking lips. Her lashes and brows are visible in person, but the typical coloring of the early transitional dolls; light Tosca and not bold like the later dolls. She is marked on her back "Vogue Doll". Eyes need assistance to open and close which is typical of these early hard plastic dolls and acceptable to most collectors. Her eyes are a very pretty blue and nice original light factory blushed cheeks, no enhancements, no touchups. Her original factory mohair wig still retains most of the original style, is full with no discolorations. She does have the typical stray hairs (especially with the early mohair wigs) as it has not been combed or restyled. Ginny's wig is factory original and applied at the factory in 1950, not a replacement, guaranteed
. Ginny has no cracks, splits or repairs, all fingers intact. She is an early strung doll which
was
restrung as her old rubber bands broke from age which is typical and acceptable to most collectors
. Now she can pose freely with no fear of her falling apart.
You can see an example of this era doll in one of the few dress prints it was issued in and the same print that was used for the Miss 1940 Half Century doll Vogue issued dress but a different style in the above noted reference book.
Cindy's outfit is clean & retains nice body to the fabric; original Vogue tagged. Dress and matching panties are a floral red/blue/green/white print; panties have good elastic waist and stay up fine. Dress is trimmed at the bottom with a cotton lace edging (dress & panties are an original, not a reproduction, not a remake). Does not appear to have been washed, ironed or repaired; no stains, no holes. Her original wool felt navy coat and caracul wool with bell variation hat (documented in the reference books) is in wonderful overall condition too. There are no holes in the felt and it still retains a
nice dark blue color (although some photos because of lighting may make it look light or brighter blue)
. Coat still retains the felt little flowers on the back of the coat with none missing (all petals); hat has original ties and the rick rack matching trim to the coat. Her center snap oil cloth shoes (smooth soles) are excellent plus - near mint, no repairs and she wears excellent original rayon socks. Due to the supplier discontinuing some of the colored stands, stand shown not included due as we no longer have a supply at this time.
Ginny Cindy has been well taken care of and appears to have been gently handled and admired and then most likely just put away. We are not the original owner but just going by how she looks; our opinion and in wonderful condition overall. Please view closely all the photos to see for yourself & decide whether she may be one you might enjoy, especially if you love the early transitional dolls. You rarely see Ginny "Cindy" offered very often and in complete excellent plus or better condition. Most of us do not know the history of these dolls and previous owners, but as you can see she presents nicely and has been around for over 60 years. A very sweet doll ready to find a new home.
If you love the elusive and more unusual this is an opportunity to get a special doll for yourself or a loved one to enjoy. Please view all the photos very closely as everyone's grading on condition can differ as we are selling her "as pictured, described, final sale, no returns" and we leave it up to the potential buyer to ask any questions regarding condition that may be of concern to help insure a happy buying experience. We are happy to help in anyway and encourage questions. If you see something in the photos that you feel needs more detail, just let us know and we'll get back to you as quickly as we can with a reply. Thank you so much for stopping by and we hope you enjoy our auctions.
Please check out all her photos for a close look and bear in mind that these are over 60 years old and were made as play things. They may have minor flaws in the making that do not detract to most but we encourage questions if you see something that needs clarification. The brows & lashes on these very early transitional dolls are not like the ones that they stenciled on in the later strung Ginny dolls. We hope she finds a new
home where she can continue to be enjoyed.
We will be posting lots more so please check our auctions often & check out our other listings too for more vintage hard plastic dolls, vintage composition dolls, vintage doll clothes & vintage doll accessories including some bisque head dolls too. Thanks for stopping by and we hope you enjoy our offering.
WE WANT HAPPY CUSTOMERS, SO ANY CONCERNS or QUESTIONS, PLEASE CONTACT US, THANK YOU!
Non-Smoking Household - No Unpleasant Odors
We may not be fully knowledgeable in all vintage collectibles & all types of dolls, but do have expertise in some areas. We strongly encourage questions and welcome any add'l details on an item that may be helpful to others too. We do detailed descriptions & offer lots of photos, but we count on the bidders/buyers to contact us with any concerns or request for additional details about a specific item being offered so that your experience is a positive one from start-to-finish.
There may be slight variations in the color shades of items as it is hard sometimes to capture the true color in the photos or scans, but if any, it would only be slight and most items are nicer than photos show. We are not professional photographers nor have vast knowledge in all the newest technology. Please contact us with questions in case we missed something important to you as "all sales are final, no returns" unless we have grossly misrepresented an item. Must be contacted immediately upon receipt to discuss. Please bear in mind that these are vintage items and made as play things, over 50 years old (most) and some older (antique) so there may be some flaws in the making as many things may have been hand done and/or machine made or a combination. We do our best to provide lots of photos and specific condition issues too.
